| Enuff Z’nuff:
The Early Years
Enuff Z’nuff was formed when Donnie Vie and Chip Z’nuff
met in Chicago, Illinois in 1984. The duo discovered a shared passion
for music and began to write songs together. Proving to be a talented
tandem, they sat about recruiting members to complete their band.
Joined by guitarist Gino Martino and drummer B.W. Boski, Donnie Vie
and Chip Z’nuff christened themselves Enuff Z’nuff and
quickly recorded their first collection of demo songs, Hollywood Squares.
Though their first single “Fingers on It” was featured
in Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer in 1986, Enuff Z’nuff
did not sign a deal until 1988. By this time, they were joined by
guitarist Derek Frigo and drummer Vikki Foxx.

Signed to Atco Records, Enuff Z’nuff released their self-titled
debut album Enuff Z’nuff in 1989. The album featured popular
hit singles “New Thing” and “Fly High Michelle”.
Both singles received heavy airplay on MTV, but it was Enuff Z’nuff’s
over-the-top wardrobe that earned the attention of the public. Enuff
Z’nuff would go on to tone down their wardrobe and focus more
on the creative effort. The result was 1991’s Strength which
was met with rave reviews. Following the album’s release Rolling
Stone described Enuff Z’nuff as “the hot band of the year”.
Enuff Z’nuff: Personnel
Changes
Enuff Z’nuff changed labels and was quickly signed to Arista
Records to record their third album Animals with Human Intelligence.
Enuff Z’nuffbut lost Vikki Foxx to the solo band of Mötley
Crüe vocalist Vince Neil. Vikki Foxx was replaced by Ricky Parent
and Animals with Human Intelligence proved to be another commercial
failure, resulting in Enuff Z’nuff being dropped from Arista
Records. When Arista dropped Enuff Z’nuff, Derek Frigo left
the band for good.
Enuff Z’nuff continued
to tour and record music. Enuff Z’nuff released their original
demos as 1985. With a solid fan base overseas, the album did well
enough commercially to get Enuff Z’nuff back on their feet and
record two additional albums. With support from a huge fan, Howard
Stern, Enuff Z’nuff continued to rock the US by making numerous
appearances on the Howard Stern show from the mid 1990s through 2005.
Enuff Z’nuff: The
Present
In 2002 Donnie Vie left Enuff Z’nuff to pursue a solo career.
In 2004 reunion discussions with Derek Frigo and Vikki Fox were halted
due to the sudden death of Derek Frigo. Also dealing a great blow
to Enuff Z’nuff was the death of Ricky Parent who lost his longtime
battle with cancer in 2007. During that time, the remaining original
members of Enuff Z’nuff reunited to work on their 12th studio
album to be released in late 2008. And now in 2008, Enuff Z’nuff
continues to tour, including an appearance at the Rock the Bayou Music
Festival in Houston, Texas, during Labor Day weekend 2008. |
